The poblano is a mild chili pepper originating in the state of Puebla, Mexico. Dried, it is called ancho or chile ancho, from the Spanish word ancho. A mature poblano pepper plant is usually about 2 1/2 feet tall but they can grow as tall as 5 feet. Chili size: Poblanos are approximately 4 inches long and two inches wide.
